Slice dates into fours. Chop the walnuts.
Mix sliced dates and the next 3 ingredients and boil for 3 minutes. Pour this mixture into a glad pudding bowl. Cool.
Make a paste of the custard powder and a little milk. Add remaining milk and sugar. Cook on slow fire till thick and creamy.
Cool thoroughly. Pour the custard over the date mixture and chill till set.
