Sanguem is a town situated in the Sanguem taluka of Goa. It is the capital of the taluka and has villages such as Uguem, Chinchant, Valkini, Kadeabhag and Malkarnem as its neighbours.

Wednesday is the market day for the people of Sanguem who are loving and God fearing. They have a great devotion to Our Lady. On the ocassion of the feast of Our Lady of Miracles, every Catholic from the Sanguem town and adjoining villages flock to the church.

The church in Sanguem is known as the Our Lady of Miracles church and was originally a military chapel built by the Portuguese Government and under the jurisdiction of the Zambaulim church.

In 1951, the Sanguem taluka was declared as Mission and was handed over to Pilar fathers. The Sanguem Parish had many sub stations.

Presently Sanguem has two residential chapels namely Uguem and Malkarnem and three non residential chapels Valkinim, Chinchant and Kadiabhag.

The Sanguem Parish witnesses a lot of harmony between other religions as well. Inter religious meets and dialogues are often held and Hindus and Muslims are often seen on the feast day with garlands and candles.
