Madkai is a village situated in the Ponda taluka in Goa that has a lot of religious temples. The village is quite pleasant and offers some tranquility. It is known as a Hindu populated village and a testimony is found in the museum at Old Goa that it practices Sati. The main economic source of the villagers here is agriculture.

Earlier the Madkai village was also known as it celebrated a festival known as Blood-spilling festival which is usually celebrated in Orissa where men were hanged with hooks that were impaled in their flesh. This has however been discontinued.

A main attraction in the Madkai village however is the temple known as the Shree Navdurga temple that is dedicated to goddess Navdurga where thousands of devotees gather for the annual zatra held in the month of November. There are a number of buses that run from Panjim and Ponda that can take one to Madkai.
