In view of the call for Goa bandh on Monday given by the Mandir Suraksha Samiti and a few other organisations, the government on Sunday imposed prohibitory orders banning assembly and collection of five or more persons and taking out or organising processions, carrying of firearms or weapons of offences, with the district magistrates issuing the orders effective from midnight tonight. |

Security in full force for today’s bandh |

Around 300-plus policemen, including CISF and IRB personnel, besides magistrates will be deployed across Margao and Rumdamol housing boards in view of Monday’s bandh called by Akhil Goa Mandir Suraksha Samiti, even as major markets in the commercial capital have decided to shut shop tomorrow.
Private bus operators have decided to keep their buses off the road on Monday, if the roads are closed. |

Govt prepares to foil bandh call |

Terming the bandh called on Monday as "illegal", the state government has intensified police patrolling in the state, besides posting two platoons of CISF and staff of the Indian Reserve Battalion at sensitive locations in the state. State transport buses will ply with police protection. |
