The festival provides a unique opportunity to the public – including professionals, intellectuals and students among others - to hear internationally reputed personalities, who deliver lectures on topics of their choice.

1  HC suggests setting up of ‘mahila chowkis’ at beaches
  While the State Government does not seem to be doing anything much for the security of tourists visiting beaches -- the Bombay High Court at Goa on Wednesday offered a couple of suggestions to the government on protection of tourists, especially women tourists and beach management. Pointing out that it is in the interest of Goa to maintain discipline at beaches and provide security to domestic as well as foreign tourists enjoying at beaches -- a Division Bench headed by Justice Naresh H Patil suggested the government should set-up ‘mahila chowkis’ at the beaches to rule out any kind of mischief against women tourists.

2  NIT will start with 3 streams
  The National Institute of Technology (NIT) to be set up in Goa will offer courses in mechanical, electronic and civil engineering in its first academic year. The NIT is set to begin operations from the academic year 2010-11 and will have 30 students in each of the three streams, sources informed.
