| Wild animals know no political boundaries, and with protection extended to Bhimgad by the state’s eastern neighbour, they can now romp freely in the rich rainforests of Goa, Karnataka and Maharashtra. “The last piece in the jigsaw puzzle is complete with Bhimgad, left unprotected till now, being added. We have a very good corridor for the wild animals of Goa, Karnataka and Maharashtra. They now have their own home,” says environmentalist Claude Alvares associated with Save the western ghats movement. Agrees herpetologist Nirmal Kulkarni working in the Mhadei region. | |
