Murgaon Education Society was established in 1971 with the noble goal of providing educational facilities at Vasco-da-Gama and in other parts of Mormugao taluka. By developing professional skills among its students, and by providing a select core of leadership qualities, the college has become over the years, a positive force for national and global development.

The first educational institution set up by the Murgaon Education Society was the College of Arts and Commerce which was established at Vasco-da- Gama in 1972. This was also the first composite Arts and Commerce College in the State of Goa to be affiliated to the Bombay University and then to Goa University.

The College seeks to bring about all rounded integrated development of the intellectual, moral and physical capacities of its students, so that they can become self reliant, play positive role in the nation building and provide leadership to society in various walks of life. Pursuit of excellence is the motto of this college. The college was shifted to its present Zuarinagar Campus in June 1985.

National and International recognition

In recognition of the high standard of education and all round excellence attained by it, the College has been selected by the University Grants Commission for introducing vocational courses at the B.Com. Degree level and by the Ford Foundation, U.S A. for implementing its Campus Diversity Initiative. The pursuit of excellence has fetched one more feather to the crown of glory of the M.E.S. College. In 1999, the College was granted accreditation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) of the University Grants Commission with four stars status.

The Mission
M.E.S. mission is to equip the youth in and around Mormugao taluka with the most upto date knowledge, marketable skills and high ethical values to enable them to participate effectively in the nation building activities, while at the same time achieving fullest development of their potential creative abilities and leadership qualities.

The Goals
(i) To provide an easy access to higher education to the eligible young men and women from Mormugao taluka and the surrounding areas.
(ii) To train its students most effectively in the B.A, B.Com., B.B.A. and B.C.A. degree courses of Goa University. (iii) To provide its students with the best possible curricular, co-curricular and extra curricular programmes.

The Vision
Higher education will play the most critical part in accelerating the pace of all round development of India during the twenty first century. M.E.S. is determined and equipped to contribute its might to the building up of a strong, growing and prosperous India, through its educational endeavours. M.E.S. has a link with academicians of several colleges and Universities as well as N.G.Os whose support it seeks to enlist in furtherance of its educational endeavours. At present we in Goa are going through socio-economic transformation because of rapid industrialization. To meet the new challenges thrown up by the fast expanding economies of Goa and India, the college offers degree courses in business administration (BBA), and in Computer Application (BCA) affiliated to Goa University.
