Cane with its natural and elegant look has replaced wooden furniture in most modern interiors, including starrred hotels, offices and homes.

Goa Cane Corporation was started by Mr Yassin Quazi in Fatorda in the year 1968. He started in a small way and later it gained as an industry in the year 1972.

Mr Yassin Quazi is the President of Goa Cane Furniture Manufacturers Association, he has five artisans working in his workshop.

Furniture designers and interior decorators have of late experimented vastly on cane and put it to use in various ways.

At Goa Cane Corporation clients choose their designs from catalogue or from albums consisting of 1000 patterns of furniture. The prices which range from Rs 3000 to Rs 25,000. There is a vast range of selection of the products like chairs, sofa sets, beds, study tables, dinning tables, designer stools, dressing table, swings, armchairs and other items.The price depends on the designs.

Cane is a highly prohibited commodity which requires strict forest permission to cut even a small piece of cane.

The advantages of cane wood,other than its elegant look are many.Cane furniture was used by the colonials who knew its medicinal importance. Cane is also long lasting and naturally resists termites and other insects from destroying it. The only danger to cane is water therefore before monsoons the furniture should be polished with varnish or thinner.

Mr Yassin Quazi has supplied furniture to major hotels in Goa,domestic bungalows, churches, offices and educational institutes. He gets orders from Madras, Mumbai, Bangalore and other states.

The wide range of designs has been displayed at his showroom Goa Cane Corporation in Fatorda, where his clients or customers can at a glance choose from the various designs.
